Apple Crisp

We had friends over for dinner last Tuesday. Though I have so many recipes to try, I didn't want to make something for the first time with guests, just in case it flopped. So, Joel and I decided to make the Cheddar Corn Chowder with Jalepeno Cheddar Scones. Everybody loved it. I definitely went against my rule for dessert, since I have never had or made apple crisp before. I used a combination of 2 recipes to help me, which I got from Jenn & Food, Perfect Together and Nom Nom Nom. The result was pretty delicious. I'd definitely make it again!

4 Large Apples, sliced thin
1/2 cup Sugar
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
1/4 cup Water
1/2 cup Quick Cooking Oats
1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon Flour
1/2 cup Brown Sugar
1/8 teaspoon Baking Powder
1/8 teaspoon Baking Soda
1/4 cup Butter, melted

Thinly slice the apples and put them in a square baking dish (8x8 or 9x9). Mix the sugar, 1 tablespoon flour and cinnamon together and sprinkle over the apples. Pour water evenly over the apple mixture. In a separate bowl, mix together the oats, remaining flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and melted butter together. Crumble the mixture evenly over the apples. Bake the apple crisp for 45-50 minutes at 350 degrees.
