Baked Asparagus with Breadcrumbs

As a vegetable dish, I served asparagus on Easter.  It is one of my favorite spring vegetables.  I tend to do the same thing with it whenever I make it: toss it in olive oil, salt, and pepper and roast or grill it.  I found this recipe on Life's Ambrosia and it was similar, but had an extra flavor and crunch.  It was simple and delicious.

1 1/2 pounds Asparagus, trimmed
2 teaspoons Olive Oil
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Fresh Cracked Black Pepper
1/4 cup Plain Breadcrumbs
1/4 cup Panko Breadcrumbs
1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
1/4 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese

Toss the asparagus in the oil, salt, and pepper and place on a foil lined baking sheet.  Combine the two kinds of breadcrumbs with the garlic powder in a bowl.  Sprinkle over the top of the asparagus.  Bake the asparagus at 450 degrees for 10 minutes.  Remove from the oven and sprinkle parmesan cheese over the top.  Broil for 2 minutes, until the topping starts to brown.  Transfer to a serving platter.
